Lloyd W. Howerton

Lloyd W. Howerton born February 11, 1930, died December 6, 2012. He was an avid aviator, wonderful husband, father, mentor and friend. One of ten children, raised in Haskell, OK, he began flying in the mid-1940s spending more than 60 years as a pilot, including 11 years in the USAF. He retired in Tulsa, OK as Chief Pilot for Flint Steel in 1990 and moved to Tucson in 2002. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dixie Joan (Hussmann) Howerton; brother, Al and Stephanie Howerton; sisters, Geneva Martin and Nina McCabe; two sons, Brad and Pamm Howerton and Robert and Kathy Howerton; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Memorial Service: St. Philips of the Hills Episcopal Church, 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 11, 2012. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Salvation Army.
