Margaret McHenry Obituary

Margaret Ellen McHenry, 74, from Tucson Arizona passed away on 4-6-2023 from a difficult fight with cancer. Margie, born on 8-23-1948, grew up in Pittsburgh, PA, then moved to Arizona for her love for warm weather.  Margie retired from CARF. She was a long time board member for the Beacon Foundation. She supported Hermitage cat shelter and St. Mary's Food Bank Alliance. She also volunteered at Loft movie theater.  All of Margie's family who proceeded her in death, Dennis Megdal (husband) son of the late Charlotte and Irving Megdal, Paul and Helen McHenry (parents), Mary Ann(Sissy), George(Buddy) and Helene(Auntie), her siblings, have all now been reunited in heaven with our Lord and Savior.  Aunt Margie enjoyed her daily walk and love for cats, coffee and wine. She will be deeply missed by many family and friends. Notably Brent Nixon, her recent companion in life. All of whom will keep her love and beautiful smile in their hearts forever.  Margaret was cremated at Smart Cremation. A Celebration of Life ceremony is planned for close family and friends.

I had the great pleasure to work with Margaret at CARF and then as a surveyor for many years. I will always remember her wonderful spirit, great attention to detail, and her incredible smile! She was always one of the first persons to arrive at the CARF office in the morning and usually the last one to leave at night. I will never ever forget Margaret and I'm so grateful she was a part of my life. Rest in peace dear friend and know that you are loved.

Margaret's passing makes me so very sad. She was such a kind and caring person. I recall her being one of the trainers/presenters during my surveyor training in the early 1990's. She was always very kind, while still expecting our best effort. I recall my being very nervous during my surveyor training. She did all she could to coach me to be the best surveyor I could be. Rest in peace with your loving family and friends, Margaret. Heaven is certainly made brighter by your presence.

Margaret oversaw my CARF Surveyor training 15 years ago with great professionalism and kindness. I always looked forward to seeing Margaret an annual Surveyor Conferences, where she would remember me by name and greet me with her signature kindness. The world was a better place because Margaret was in it.

I just spoke of Margaret today (prior to seeing this post) in my work with CARF and how she was such a wonderful role model and how I missed her at the CARF Conferences and all the great work she represented! Margaret was a wonderful spirit and after reading the post I find comfort imagining her beautiful smile as she is with her husband, siblings and and close family again. My heartfelt condolences to her family and Brent as she was a true treasure - celebrate your time with her.

Margaret was the consummate professional--knowledgeable, friendly, thoughtful, and, most importantly, genuine. She was always there to answer questions, talk through issues, and be a friend. The CARF community has lost a great force for good with Margaret's passing. Sincere condolences to her family. She was a very special lady and will be greatly missed.

Dear Margaret,
I cherished our friendship over many years. It was a privilege to work with you and to keep in touch at Christmas since you retired.
We shared many fruitful conversations and fun stories over the years about our shared mission at CARF.
Rest well, my friend.

Margaret was one of CARF's stalwarts during my time as a CARF surveyor. She managed my training and the training for countless others with grace, dignity and directness that encouraged the "CARF way" of doing things. The standards she brought to the work of being a surveyor are ingrained in my mind and I'm sure in the minds of many others. My heartfelt sympathy to her family and friends; she will be missed!
