Marojean Tatman Obituary

TATMAN, Marojean (Kline), went home to be with the Lord on April 23, 2011. Marojean was born on September 11, 1923, to George and Clarabelle Kline. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of nearly 53 years, Leland Tatman, on July 28, 1995. Marojean is survived by her son, Donovan (Terry) and grandsons, Joshua and Kyle Tatman. She was a charter member of Monte Vista Christian Union Church where she served faithfully for over 50 years. As an accomplished musician, vocalist and songwriter, Marojean had a passion for her savior and gospel music. This was exhibited at the early age of two, when she played her first song on the piano, "Nearer My God to Thee." As a young person, she traveled extensively with her family musical group, The Kline Family. In 1968, she founded the Tucson Messengers country gospel group. One of her numerous published songs, "He Came to Me," was the title song on the 1998 International Christian Album of the Year, recorded by the Tucson Messengers. The Tucson Messengers continue this legacy, traveling, performing and recording. A "Celebration of Her Life" will take place at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 30, 2011 at Monte Vista Church, 1140 E. Roger Road. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Monte Vista Motorsports Ministries or The Tucson Messengers. For further information call 520-349-3047.

Marojean was one of the finest people I have ever known. She was a mentor to Connie and I as we began our ministry now 50 years ago. She loved us, prayed for us, advised us, and helped us in every way possible. She is a true hero of the faith.

I remember her HOSPITALITY and how she opened her home to anyone passing through. I remember her EXCELLENCE when doing something for her Savior and her teaching others the importance of why we should give our very best to our Savior. I remember her MUSICAL TALENTS as she worked tirelessly at the Monte Vista Church to provide the best musical program, often with the children at Christmas and with different adult groups for our services on Sundays. She was one of the most gifted people I know.

Don, Terri, & Family, Wished we could have joined you there in Tucson to celebrate your mom's life. There are so many memories - her great fudge at Christmas and the bread & pies were mouth-watering. The times we all shared - going by "wagon train" across country to begin our lives in Tucson; the church planting of Monte Vista; our picnics, even in the winter months, up on Mt. Lemmon; her giftedness as a musician and songwriter; her prayers. So many memories! You all are in our prayers - I know she will be greatly missed. Love, Linda (Long) & Don Cozad and Family

Don, Terry & Boys...

Marojean will always have a special place in my heart. She had a fantastic musical gift. I am so pleased that she and the Messengers touched so many people with encouragement and hope in Jesus. I continue to play her piano recordings. What a blessing! I thank the Lord for the time I had with her and the Tatman family.

Don, What wonderful memories I have of your Mother. Family & church get-togethers with the uncles, aunts & "cousins" at Mt. Lemon, the carry-in dinners at the park on Sunday afternoons, Thanksgiving, Christmas . . . the list goes on & on. I cherish the memory of playing the organ with her on Sundays at Monte Vista. She was a Godly woman that will be greatly missed. So sorry we could not be there for the "Celebration of Her Life."

Don and Terry,
I sincerely regret that we cannot be with you for this service. Your mother was such a blessing to Connie and I during our time in Tucson. She was one of the most talented people I have ever known. She was also one of the greatest prayer warriors I have ever known. You are in our prayers and thoughts.
