Mattie Shank Obituary

SHANK, Mattie, September 27, 1932 - October 8, 2008. Mattie was born in New Mexico and peacefully passed, of natural causes. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, John; her four children, Valerie Quintana, Connie (Jim) Clifton, Karen (Lance) Auer, and John (Nina) Shank; six grandchildren, Greg (Stacey) Clifton, Vanessa (Rob) Gorney, Tracy (Nick) Becker, Brian Auer, Johannah Shank, Sofia Shank, two brothers and five sisters. Mattie attended Highland University in Las Vegas, New Mexico and received Bachelors and Masters degrees from the University of Arizona. She was a long-time bi-lingual teacher in the Tucson Unified and Marana School Districts. She especially enjoyed her family, and traveling. Mattie and John's favorite vacations were cruises and they have been nearly all over the world. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 13, 2008 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at DESERT SUNSET FUNERAL HOME, 3081 W. Orange Grove Rd., with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Odilia's Church, 7570 N. Paseo Del Norte. Interment is to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery, on N. Oracle Rd.
