Michael Young Obituary

Michael C. Young passed away on November 9, 2006, at the age of 67. Mike was born to John J. and Jean R. Young in Detroit, Michigan on August 4, 1939. At a very young age, Mike moved with his parents to Danville, Illinois, where he spent much of his formative years. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame and moved to Tucson in 1961, where he attended the University of Arizona School of Law. Mike was as true a gentleman as he was a loving, generous and gracious husband, father, grandfather and friend. As a professional, Mike was known for his honesty, integrity and patience. His love for the law was only surpassed by his determination to help his clients. He had a distinguished 40 year career as an attorney and partner with the firm of Duffield Young Adamson and Alfred P.C. Mike was the Board chair of Youth on Their Own, a past board member of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Tucson, and a member of both the ABA and Arizona Bar. Mike was an avid hiker who spent much of his free time hiking the Catalina Mountains with his wife, children, friends, and anyone who could keep pace with him. Mike is survived by his wife, Lori; his mother, Jean; his brother, J. Gerald of New York; his stepmother, Louise; his children, R. Gerald, Patrick, Kevin, Lisa, Michael, Keely and James; grandchildren, Sacha, Jonathan, Michael, Mathew, Joseph, Samantha, Chloe, and Catherine. He was preceded in death by his father, John Young. Services will be held Monday, November 13, 2006, at St. Thomas The Apostle Church, 5150 N. Valley View Road at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Youth on Their Own, 1443 W. Prince Rd., Tucson, AZ 85705 (520) 293-1136. Arrangements by BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

I learned of Mike's passing when I called his law office to invite him to a 50th reunion of his Schlarman High School (Danville, Illinois)class of 1957. I lost track of Mike following high school, but in a small class of 56 students he was known and loved by all of them.

My deepest sympathy to Mike's family and friends. My dealings with him were through Lawyers Title of Arizona. He was always a pleasure to work with.

I absolutely loved Mike. He was a great boss. It was so obvious to me how much Mike loved Lori and how much Lori loved Mike. Mike will be missed greatly at the office and in this world. This silent angel will definitely be looking down upon us.

My prayers to his family. His example of service and unselfishness
to a wonder program has inspired me with out even knowing this man.
His work will go on to enable and enrich the lives of willing youths to live purposeful lives. A beacon of light and hope. Men like these are hard to find but are gifts to inspire others and lead to continue their work. Thank you for giving yourself to Youth On Their Own.

My condolences to the family. Mr. Young represented me regarding my Mother's estate when she passed away in 1999. He was indeed a gentleman.
