Nancy was a good friend from 1995 until I left Arizona in 2001 to return to the Northeast to help my aging parents. I was saddened to find out those many years ago almost 10 years ago that she passed and such a young age. But I remember when she had had both of her knees replaced and had gotten on the wheelchair and onto the bicycle for the first time with friends on East Elida Street, and before you knew it Nancy was bicycling all over Tucson hiking at Catalina State Park, Madeira Canyon , and one time we drove up the back side of Mt Lemmon by a PepperSauce Canyon . I found a photo from 1998 at Madeira Canyon that I scanned from print to digital and try to improve the color and overall appearance as best as possible.

Nancy was so effervescent, and overflowing with positive attitude, love, and joy. She helped so many, altering clothes as a favor, taking care of gardens for the handicapped, staying on the beam no matter what. Thank you, Nancy

I think we can all look back on our own lives and remember those few special people that have guided us along our own paths. I am fortunate that Nancy was one of those people for me. We spent several weekends together planting in my mother's garden after her death several years ago. Nancy would ride her bike over and be covered in sweat before we even got started. She would leave covered head to toe in dirt - and she always insisted on hugs. At first, taking over my mother's garden was painful as I felt I had to live up to her green thumb. Nancy taught me to see past the baggage of what it used to represent, and to appreciate the beauty of simply nurturing. To slow down and appreciate life in all its many forms. I don't remember our conversations throughout the years in the garden, but looking back on our time together I realize how important her presence was in my life. She had a gentle spirit, and an unconditional love I will deeply miss.

Life is full of miracle of all to see if you know where to look.Nancy was one of those miracles and I am blessed to have crossed paths with her in this lifetime. May her light continue to shine through the stillness. Jean de Jong

I count myself among the many lucky Tucsonan who knew and loved Nancy. I was so lucky to have seen Mt Lemmon through her eyes....and to have explored faith and hope with her.
She will live in my memory as a beautiful child of God who loved, laughed, and made the world.a better place than she found it....sometimes with a rake and a shovel, sometimes with a bowed head and a sigh, sometimes with a kind word and a broad smile.
