Pamela Brement Obituary

Pamela Sanders Brement author/journalist, died June 26, 2014 at her home in Tucson at age 79 of liver cancer. Born in Manila to Anglo-American parents, she was interned as a child in a POW camp during the Japanese invasion of the Philippines in World War II. Pamela wrote for the Manila Times before working for Time as a freelance reporter in Vietnam and elsewhere. She returned to Vietnam in 1973 with her husband, Marshall Brement, a Foreign Service officer who later served as U.S. ambassador to Iceland in the early 1980s. She authored the novel "Miranda," "Iceland 66 Degrees North" (with Beny, 1985), "Iceland, Isle of Light" (with her husband), and "I'll Be Seeing You," a comic play about old age. As a writer, Pam had a way with words and often displayed a sharp sense of humor. She loved travel and immersed herself in many cultures, including Southeast Asia, Hawaii, Russia, Spain, and Iceland. She loved animals and hated the killing of any living creature. In retirement, the Brements moved to southern Arizona where they bought Pamela's mother's Z Triangle Ranch near Sonoita. Later they moved to Tubac, then Tucson. Pamela continued to enjoy travel throughout the world, visiting friends and relatives by whom she is fondly remembered. She is survived by three stepchildren, five cousins, and their families. Arrangements by ANGEL VALLEY FUNERAL HOME.
