Patricia Kollar Obituary

With sadness we announce the death of Patricia Arlene Kollar on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at the age of 87. She was born on November 11, 1937 in Decatur, IL to David Tarr and Elsie Herriott who preceded her in death, as well as her loving husband, Peter R. Kollar, sister Jeanne Wittenberg-Stone, and her brother Mark Herriott. Pat is survived by daughter Rosanne Wells, step-daughters Amy (Mark) Anderson, OH, Candice (David) Ensslin, and brother John Tarr (Ruby), sisters Julie Carter and Roberta Elkins. Additionally, Pat will be missed by Owen, Aiden, and Ellie Ensslin, her grandchildren. Pat was adored for her affection for spreadsheets, her polished appearance, and her hilarious (and often naughty) colloquial sayings. During her employment at CNA in Chicago, Pat met Pete and asked him for a date. Pete proposed in 3 weeks and they married 9 weeks later. With a broken heart, Pat said goodbye to her beloved Pete on Saturday, July 28th, 2018, but their ashes will be combined. In 2014, Pat overcame a rare form of cancer (Burkitt's Lymphoma) which took the use of her dominant arm, but always fiercely independent, it did not stop Pat from driving (her favorite activity) nor living a life full of philanthropy. Pat and Pete were especially concerned about homeless students who are unable to graduate from high school and made Youth On Their Own (YOTO) their priority philanthropy. The family is thankful to Bill Martin, who became Pat's friend and daily companion as they helped each other with the obstacles of life, and friends Debbie MacKinney, Jeanette Brown and CJ Vincent/MaryEllen Landen of Wow Arizona. Gifts of remembrance may be made to www.yoto.org.
