My brother Ray was more than just a brother to me. My father died when I was 5 and he was 20. He took over responsibility for me, and for our 10-year old brother Mike Jr. He taught me basketball and baseball, how to shoot a BB gun, how to drive a car. He didn't teach me English, but he taught me to use English at home and in the barrio. To me he has always been the epitome of "The Greatest Generation". And not only because of his service in WWII, though that was an important part of his life, but also for his unstinting hard work, his strict honesty, the many things he made with his hands, his joy in life. Ray raised me, taught me, pointed the way, and then sent me off on life's adventure. And then he did the same thing with 9 children of his own. He well deserves his place in the Pima County Hall of Fame. Descansa en paz, hermano.

Oh Ray, you lived a wonderful long life and we are glad you were a part of ours. Ray was our neighbor for over 20 years & I called him THE ENERGIZER BUNNY. He always had more energy than most people. While we teased him about pulling weeds,he was helpful to most of the neighbors. he had a good sense of humor and we also heard many of his stories, sports, the war, his many adventures as a parent. He was an unsung hero. He squeezed out every last bit of juice in his life & as someone else said, he is organizing a team on the Other Side. Our condolances to Ray's family, it is we who remain that bear the sadness. He is free .

One thing I can say for my Dad is he was a hard worker. And instilled his work ethic to his children. He taught us right from wrong and to respect others. He may have been hard at times but we would not be the people that we are today if it weren't for him. Thank You Dad for teaching me to drive, for loving my kids, and for giving me so many brothers and sisters. I love You. Yolanda

I will miss my grandfather forever. He was a strong, brave man and a great provider. He always told me interesting stories. He also did a lot for his community and will be missed by many. I am thankful that he lived a long life and was able to hold my children. Rest in peace Tata.

To the Camacho Family:
My heart goes out to you regarding a remarkable father. I still remember to this day how a fantastic little league coach and a mentor Mr.Camacho was. We played with David and Marty for the sunshine Baseball league. When Mr. C wasn't coaching, he was playing umpire behind home base. He love sports and love to help kids and taught them the love of the sport. He was our go to guy throughout our Miles Street neighborhood and we would ask any questions and will get a straight answers.

May God Bless the Camacho Family during these days and you can rest assure, your Father is forming a little league team in heaven getting them ready for the baseball season.

May you enjoy eternal Life Coach C!

Ray was a great american , a great man , and a great father in law . His wife Carmen called him Rey , I always thought that was short for Ramon , but she explained to me that Rey means king , He was the King of his house . I have so many fond memories of all the times I spent with Ray . The simple things that he did , recording all the episodes of The Simpsons , storing all of his old cars in the back yard , and the front yard , filling in the grid during March Madness on the 2 page fold out from the Tucson Citizen , He was an avid U of A fan . He shared with me about his experiences in WW 2 , He marched thru the Arch De Triumph when Paris was liberated . He introduced me to '' El Rey de Chorizo '' , down on 29th street , absolute best chorizo in town . I will miss Ray , as will my sons and grand kids . Vaya Con Dios , Amigo .
