Richard George Obituary

Richard L. "Dick" George It is with extreme sorrow that the George Family announces the death of our beloved father, Richard L. "Dick" George, April 18, 2008, being ever thankful to God for gracing us with such a loving, devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. A gregarious, life-loving soul, our father was born in Boston, Massachusetts on February 24, 1928 to Onsville and Irene (Murphy) George. He grew up in Melrose, Mass, and after graduating from Melrose High School in 1945, he joined the Army Air Corps, which stationed him at Davis-Monthan here in Tucson. It was then that he met our mother, his wife for 59 years, Bernice Rinkleib, on a blind date. Although married in Greenwood, Mass in 1949, our parents returned to Tucson and raised us six kids here during the 1950's, 60's and 70's. He fondly reminisced about his many years as a branch manager and vice president for Southern Arizona Bank and was President of the Arizona American Institute of Banking. He retired in 1993 after worked 24 years as Property and Insurance Manager for the Diocese of Tucson, and continued serving in the church as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish. The last surviving Charter Member of Saguaro Rotary, founded in 1963, he was club President from 1972 to '73, and received the Four Avenues of Service Award in 2003. Dad loved being around people and went out of his way to make new acquaintances. He was a Fanatic Wildcat, loved playing golf every Saturday morning with his buddies and spending much of his time with family and friends. The epitome of the term "Family Man", we, his family, are blessed to have been his true life's work. We will carry on his legacy of love. He is survived by our mother Bernice; his mournful children, Michael (Patricia), Ellen (Jack Talkington), Lawrence (Susan), Timothy (Joan), Denise, and Kevin (Mary); sisters, Nancy (Snell), Beverly George, and brother, Kent; in-laws, William and Emily Bradley, Nancy Willis and Barry Rinkleib. Eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren lovingly called him "Papa". Please join us in remembering our father this Wednesday morning, April 23, 2008 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 8650 N. Shannon Rd. (297-7357). Visitation 9:50 a.m., Rosary 10:30 a.m. and Mass at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers please support the Tucson Community Food Bank, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, the Catalina Council of Boy Scouts of America or any other charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, 742-7901.

To Mrs. George, and the Family, I offer my deepest Sympathy.
I was very privileged to have Mr.George as my Boss for several years at The Southern Arizona Bank.
He was a good, kind, boss. And I enjoyed working for him.I haven't seen him for years, but I've always felt he was my friend. I pray God's comfort for each one of you.

Mike and Family,
The loss of a parent, while extremely difficult, appears to bring the family closer. It hurts to lose someone that you love so much, but it's the knowledge that God has gained an angel that makes grieving a little easier. May God hold you in His arms, give you peace, strength and comfort during this difficult time and always. Love leaves a memory no one can steal and your dad left a legacy of unforgetable memories for his family. My family sends our condolescences on the loss of the Patriarch of the George Family.

"You've populated Tucson with Georges" I said to him during a visit in 2006.

"Damn Right!", he said, beaming.

Well done, Uncle Richard!

Dear Kevin & Mary and Family,

Though we never met your father, we appreciate his loving legacy that lives on within you, his family. A more beautiful, loving or honoring obituary we have never seen than that of your dear "Papa's". Truly, he knew what mattered in life. May the peace and comfort of our Heavenly Father carry you through each moment and season to come.

With our love and prayers,

Claudia & Dan Dutil
