Richard Hansen Obituary

Richard Lee Hansen died July 4, 2007 at 10:30 p.m. He was born on October 25, 1925 in Centerville, South Dakota. He graduated from Parker High School, Parker South Dakota, 1943, served in the U.S. Navy from 44 - 46 and then in the Navy reserves as an Ensign. He was very proud to serve his country and to be a WWII veteran. In college he became a Phi Delta Theta and graduated from the University of South Dakota. After graduation, he met and married Patricia Ann Hansen. They had two children, Deborah Lee Hansen and Mark Whittier Hansen. Richard is survived by his children and four grandchildren, Christopher Grant MacWilliam, Mark Whittier Hansen, Jr., Lindsey Elizabeth Gold and Francis Kendall Hansen. His passions were working for the Primavera Foundation, helping the homeless and always participating whether on the vestry or in other capacities in the Episcopal Churches he was a member of. In his "Norwegian way", he touched the hearts of so many people and loved his family dearly. Donations can be made to the St. Joseph's ICU Fund or Primavera Foundation. His memorial service and reception will be held this coming Monday at St. Phillips Church in the Hills, Tucson, at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements entrusted to ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel.

I did not know Mr. Hansen, but I do know his son, Mark. He is a fraternity brother of mine. Believing that kids, generally, are a pretty good reflection of their parents, I know that Mr. Hansen must have been one terrific human being. I was very sorry to hear of his passing, but I know that he will bring many additional smiles to Heaven.

Dick and I have many good memories of working together. He certainly played a big part of my integration to TX when we returned from Australia. Dick, you will be missed but not forgotten!

Dick's memory will always bring a smile to my face, as will those memories of his darling Patricia. They were two special people who certainly touched our lives. Keeping in touch with Dick has meant a lot these past years.

Dick will be missed by so many people in Tucson, especially at St. Philip's Church where he was very active. He was a good friend, always enthusiatic about life and friends and good food. We will miss being with him and send love and comfort to his family.
Since I am in Michigan for a while, I will not be able to attend his service.
