Richard Johnson Obituary

In loving memory of "Doctor Dick" - Dr. Richard Lewis Johnson, (LT, USN) born in May 1933 who peacefully passed away at his home on November 22, 2023. Dr. Johnson's life was a testament to service and dedication, from his early days as a Battalion and Regimental Surgeon with the 7th Marines in Vietnam to his years as a compassionate Internal Medicine physician at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Mo. Beyond his medical career, he continued to be a devoted servant, actively contributing to his church and various social groups. His passion for singing, particularly in the realm of Barbershop, brought him immense joy throughout his life. Dr. Johnson passed into God's hands surrounded by family and cherished loved ones. He is preceded in death by his brother SgtMaj Robert Johnson (USA, Ret.) and his parents. He is survived by his loving wife Arleta of 46 years, sons, Dan and Scott, and daughters Kathy and Carrie. "Doctor Dick" will be remembered as a patriot, a healer, and a man who left an enduring impact on the lives he touched. May he rest in eternal peace.

Mrs. Arleta Johnson and Families,
My Deepest Sympathy to all of you on the passing of Dr. Dick. I went to Nursing School at Research College of Nursing when it was connected up with Rockhurst(1981-1985) forgetting that I knew him when I was preparing to be an RN. After I graduated I worked in Springfield and knew his brother, Robert. So very sorry for the passing of Dr. Dick. All of you will be in my prayers and thoughts. May God provide each of you comfort, strength, peace, and encouragement at this time. May God bless all of you.
In Christian Love,
Mrs. Amber(Cozort) Redburn
