Roger EAGLE Obituary

EAGLE, Roger (Oren) 74, died on December 30, 2018 after a valiant 13-year battle with lymphoma. A resident of Tucson since moving from Virginia in 1961, he attended Tucson High, ASU on a football scholarship, and served in the Navy for four years. He retired as a US West executive in 2003 after 35 years. Roger was active in the Kiwanis, the Masons, volunteered at the Desert Museum, TMC in Senior Services programs, and belonged to the car clubs of the vintage vehicles he restored and drove: a '57 Chevy and a '55 Thunderbird. Respected and loved by a wide circle of friends and all family members, he maintained friendships with Tucson Hi football alumni, decades of neighbors, and US West employees in the Pioneer Club. He was preceded in death by his son, Roger Paul Eagle, DVM, and his wife, Sandra Corona. He is survived by his granddaughter, Talia Eagle of Tucson; his daughter-in-law, Kynta Price Eagle; his cherished friend, Lucas Kimes and his sisters, Shirley Beard of Oro Valley AZ, Jan Eagle and Karen Moman of Tucson and Judith England of Oxford, AR. At his request, his remains will be cremated and a private family memorial will be held. Arrangements by VISTOSO FUNERAL HOME of Oro Valley.

Memories and Condolences
for Roger EAGLE

Not sure what to say?

Uncle Roger and niece Brittany Corona-Vessely Christmas 1990 - Roger was the Santa stand-in that year. :)

Looking back at old photos and memories, it occurred to me that Uncle Roger was always there-- sports games, high school and college graduations (even traveling to Colorado for mine), Louie and my college athletic signings (even dropping Lou off at NAU), birthdays, weddings (he was even my parent's wedding photographer), and other family gatherings.

Uncle Roger loved my Aunt Sandi dearly, even through some of the most trying times with her battle of alzheimer's and his own cancer diagnosis and chemo. You would never know he was sick because of his constant physical and spiritual strength. Even after Sandi passed, he devoted his time to volunteering at Tucson Medical Center Canyon Ranch Institutes Life Enhancement Program, helping with "memory fitness," for those with or helping the beginnings of dementia. I am blessed to have been the flower girl for his son Tyg's wedding at Old Tucson- a favorite place for the family. Tyg's unexpected passing was Uncle Roger's hardest time. But he focused his energy and love into Tyg and his wife Kynta's beautiful daughter Talia.

Uncle Roger was one of the strongest men I have ever known, and he loved his family deeply. We will miss him, his humor, humility and strength, and support and encouragement through all life changes. I will cherish the last memory Andrew and I shared with Uncle Roger, over lunch in Tucson in March 2018, asking about his early life in Virginia and time in service. He enjoyed showing Andrew his '55 Red Thunderbird, a pride and joy for him. Although I wasn't able to say a last goodbye in-person, that memory will stay with me always, as will Uncle Roger.
"Lord,
Uncle Roger is gone now from this earthly dwelling,
and has left behind those who mourn his absence.
Grant that we may hold his memory dear,
never bitter for what we have lost
nor in regret for the past,
but always in hope of the eternal Kingdom
where you will bring us together again.
Through Christ our Lord.
Amen."

Roger was a true friend and classmate, THS Class of 1963. He dealt with his ailment without any recriminations and continued to live his life as normally as you would expect him to do. He was an impiration to his THS 1962 Football Team members and to any clasmate that was lucky enough to know him. The Badger Breakfast Group will miss him immensely. Even in his passing, he will continue to be a Red and White THS Badger. George A. Dominguez, THS Class of 1963

My brother ROGER was bigger than life not only in body (63) --but in impact. He was relentlessly generous, conscientious, compassionate, and impressive generally. I had the honor of being by his side a great deal in the last few years as he dealt with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. It took over a decade for it to bring him down, he was such a warrior. The Eagle Has Landedand as his daughter-in-law Kynta noted, we hope hes with his son Tyg now watching their beloved football games on that big screen in the sky. This Eagle always tagged his email with King of the Skies."

Adding more information from Jan EAGLE:

On the day before Roger died, I (Jan Eagle) had to fill out paperwork for admission to The Villas with him. In addition to all his info on insurance, etc., the Hospice people asked personal questions so they could interact with him. TWO are below.

Asked What's one of your favorite childhood memories?
He answered immediately: Roscoe."
Asked What is one of your proudest accomplishments?
Instant response: Tyg"
