Sam Sharp Obituary

Sam Houston Sharp (Col. US Army, Ret.) passed on December 11, 2013 in Tucson, AZ. Born in Antlers, OK July 11, 1921. Entered military service as a Reserve Officer in 1943. Served in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. Retired from military service 1973 at Fort Sam Houston, TX. A Tucson resident since 1975, Sam passionately engaged in civic affairs and was an active member of many organizations including: Pima Co. Republican Club; Sabbar Shrine and Shrine Concert Band; Kiwanis; American Legion; Military Order of World Wars; Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge; Master Mason; 32nd Degree Scottish Rite; and Tucson Patriotic & Civic Coordinating Council. He was a fierce patriot and civic leader dedicated to the security and protection of the United States of America. Awards included: Legion of Merit, Purple Heart, Belgian Fourregere, and Meritorious Service Medal. He is survived by his devoted wife, Berna (Deane), who he wed in 1949, daughters, Merion, Johna and Suzette and four grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his son, Sam H.
