Irene and Andy,
It has now been over 2 weeks since Gary went home to be with the Lord. I was thinking of you both tonight and wanted to post a my thoughts. I have known you all for many years but after the memorial, I feel like I just met Gary and I liked what I heard from friends and family who knew him better.
He was a special man , a simple man in many ways but a complexed one at the same time.
He lived out his faith in serving and loving others. He inspired and encouraged the friends and family he loved and was able to bring laughter and fun to every gathering. As I listened to all who wanted to speak at the memorial, I was impressed that he was the same person to each of them. His church family, his work associates, and his hunting and "hanging out" friends all described Gary the same. Wouldn't we all like to be remembered the way he was at the end of our lives? I know I would be happy knowing I had made the impact on people I have known through the years, as Gary had. I got the feeling that some who spoke had not been part of his life for some years, but they all made sure they were with you and Andy to celebrate his life.
Now, I am sure you will have many difficult days as the dust settles and life goes on. But just know, you have many friends who love you and care about you and are praying that the Holy Spirit will be your comforter and your Rock to lean on in the wee hours when no one else is there. He understands every tear and lonely moment. He does not tire of hearing repeated cries for his help. He is your comforter and will be near you, especially when you want to be alone to cry and not have to explain, to laugh out loud for no apparent reason as you remember something Gary said or did, or to just have time think (or not).
But, just so you know, I am as close as the phone and would feel honored to have you call just to talk or meet you somewhere for coffee (and something chocolate, (the other comforter....smile...)).
I love you , Linda

Irene and Andrea, Dale and I are so sorry about Gary. He was a good man and we thought a lot of him. We will always have fond memories of our trip to Florida together with the youth group from the chapel.
