Shirley Schwartz Obituary

SHIRLEY SCHWARTZ Shirley was a vice president of Long Realty Company and a former member of the Board of Directors for the Tucson Board of Realtors. She is a graduate of Farleigh Dickson University and did graduate work at Smith College. She and her husband, known in the real estate community as "Shirley and Stu," have been an active part of Tucson Real Estate since 1973. She and her husband, Stu Schwartz, were adventurous world travelers, scuba divers and "one-time" skydivers. In her recent years Shirley became a tap dancer with a local entertainment company known as The Tucson Prunes and later The Tucson Prunes Take Two. She has a son, David Lamden, who resides in Columbus, Ohio with his wife Jenifer and Shirley's grandchildren, Gregory and Dara Lamden; a daughter, Deborah O'Connor and her husband Michael; and stepdaughter, Stacie Durns. She was extremely fond of her step-sons Niles, Danny and Steven Schwartz, Danny's wife Csila, all of her step-grandchildren, Sean and Tyler Durns, Jordan and Adam Schwartz, and Erin and Jacob Schwartz. Shirley use to say that she didn't sell her clients, she "adopted" them and made them a part of her life. Therefore her scope of friends, in addition to her closest associates, included the Real Estate Community, her clients and her wonderful family of "Prunes." She will be sadly missed by all and especially by her best friend, partner and husband, Stu. Memorial service, Sunday, April 29, 2007, 11:00 a.m. EVERGREEN MORTUARY & CEMETERY, N. Oracle & W. Miracle Mile, with Rabbi Joseph Weizenbaum officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1636 N. Swan Road, Tucson, AZ 85712 or Long Realty Cares Foundation Habitat for Humanity, which Shirley was supportive of, 900 E. River Rd., Tucson, AZ 85718.

My Dearest Stu and Family,
Stu, as you know I called you and Shirley today, May 22, 2007, and left a message for the two of you, thinking that you two were off on another adventure. When you returned my call and told me that our Father in Heaven had taken Shirley to be with Him in paradise on April 26, 2007, I felt so sad and shocked because I had not heard. Shirley had energy and love abounding; her smile brightened a room; and her laugh would cheer even the surliest or depressed person. Because she was such an amazing wife and companion to you I can only imagine what life has been like for you since her leaving this mortal life. It must take strength beyond all that most of us even imagine. I loved Shirley, I still love Shirley. I was thinking how long has it been...about 30 years since we met in the late 70's working at Marved Homes, remember? What a great time we had through the years. I pray that all the children will find comfort in knowing that their mother did love them and she was loved by many and that she was also an extremely forgiving woman. I am so sorry that your earthly journey with Shirley has ended and I pray that your memories will help ease the enormity of the empty spot in your life. Rise and fall, salt and pepper, buy and sell, sun and moon, Heaven and earth, Shirley and Stu. God Bless You.

Shirley was a bright light and a unique and beautiful person whose zest for life was an inspiration to all who were lucky enough to know her. Just being around her always made me feel good. And with Stu, what a great team: you really did get "two for one" and both of them, highly professional, went out of their way to also be understanding and compassionate and solve all the problems which arose. Our hearts are heavy now. I, and so many others who know how valiantly Stu fought to save her and care for her, bless him and, with him, we shall miss our Shirley forever.

With love and sadness,

Stu,
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family in these difficult moments. Even though I only met Shirley very briefly -while finding and buying my first home- her warm and kind personality left a long lasting impression. God bless you.

Sincerely,

Sally Reichardt

Stu,

We go back many, many, many years. So far, that I can't even remember the year. You and Shirley have always had a special relationship and you're so lucky to have found each other.

You were able to share diving trips, trips to Africa and so much more. She was a special lady and you are going to miss her so very much. I hope that time eases your pain and that happiness will eventually come from remembering the wonderful years you've had together.

My thoughts are with you and your entire extended family during this time of sorrow.

Most sincerely,

Sally
