Thomas Forte Obituary

Thomas Henry Forte 62, passed away on April 5, 2012 in San Jose, CA. He is survived by his wife, Gloria; brothers, Doug and Mike; twin sister, Terry; daughters, Stacey, Melissa and Sarah; five granddaughters, Julissa, Brisa, Brielle, Alanis and Kaylalle and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. There will be a Celebration of life on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Ascension Lutheran Church, 1220 W. Magee Rd., Tucson, AZ. Arrangements by NEPTUNE SOCIETY.

We are continually thankful for the many memories and times we spent with Tom as he spoke words of encouragement, stood for his beliefs and became a part of our lives. He is missed even now, but his life will never be forgotten.

Happy New Years Honey, you can't even imagine how much I miss you. There isn't one day that has gone by that I don't cry. It's so unbelievabe to me that your not here by my side. Spending Christmas and New Year was like living in an empty shell. Do you know that I tell you how much I love you every night, like I use to when you slept next to me. I miss holding your hand, I miss kissing you, I miss your arms around me. These words can't even describe the pain I go through everyday. I sang with Tom in choir the past 7 years. He always had a friendly hello for everyone. I'm saddened by Tom's passing, but I take comfort in the fact that he has gone home to be with our LORD and Savior.

My brother Tom is a kind and gentle person who loves his wife very much. I know him as a loving person. One thing for sure, he loved being in the choir ministry, and Loves the Lord. Now, he is singing in God's house. I'm glad I stopped by to see him the night before, I feel the Holy Spirit was prompting me to go. I thank God for Tom's friendship. I also thank God for Gloria, and pray God's hand of comfort over her. We the choir really miss seeing him. Blessings to all of Tom's family, and if you have God in your life(as Tom) you have the hope to see him again.

We became family on this side of Heaven because we married two of the most amazing people on the planet. I can only believe that this makes Tom and I fairly decent folk. I can only thank God that Tom was in my life and the lives of my family. He loved each one of us and there was never a doubt about that. I have a deep appreciation for Tom's zest for life and how much he wanted everyone else to know the joy he had on this side. He always went out of his way to connect with people and give of himself. He was not stingy with the skills and gifts that God had bestowed upon him and there is evidence all over many homes of his craftsmanship and attention to detail. Greg and I have the privilege of having one of these pieces that Tom made for our precious Ka'iulani. Tom, we remain family because we know Jesus and I look forward to seeing you in Heaven. I can only imagine what you are building up there with the Greatest Carpenter Alive. With all my love, see you soon.

Tom was always willing to help. He helped me with so many things. He and Gloria helped me move into my new home, and Tom hung up all of my wall decorations. He also took me to all of the Home Improvement stores to purchase my first power drill and circular saw. I use them like a pro now, because he taught me how to use them. He was very patient with me, as I had a lot of questions, and he answered them all. He also made me a beautiful Craftsman-style desk and TV cabinet for a room I was redecorating for my parents. We will all treasure those Tom Forte originals forever. I was also the florist for his and Gloria's wedding. They became dear friends of mine during that time. I was so happy to see them so happy together. Most people aren't that lucky to have someone that in sync with them. Tom & Gloria were very blessed to find each other, when they did. He will be terribly missed.

Tom had a beautiful bass voice and often we stood next too each other in the choir. We used to sing every Sunday and he made the rehearsals and singing venue fun as he had a great dry, sense of humor. Tom will be sorely missed. This man was the most romantic, loving, patience man I have ever met. We talked many, many hours in the morning outside on the patio,sharing each others love for our children. I was devastated when Brianne told me about Tom, because our families share such a long and happy history! Tom could always make us laugh and could be counted on to do whatever it took to make sure the girls had a fulfilling softball experience. I'm heartbroken that Brianne and I will be out of town for the memorial. I have so many memories (not to mention photos and videos) of a multitude of games, post game trips to Mi Nidito, "Spanky waving," fundraisers, and countless fun times. I want to get together at a future date so we can remember him together. I love you all and join you in mourning his loss. I'm so grateful you shared him with us and I can let you know one thing for sure...he loved and was so proud of his girls!

I cherish the times with your family in our softball years. In softball, we are all family, we've spent countless hours with one another. And as families do, we celebrated happy times and got through the tough times. This is one of those tough times that we all need each other. I didn't get to see you much after we all graduated, but I did think of you and the girls often over the years. I will never forget the way you never made me or any of us Bobby Sox feel small, unimportant or not good enough. I look back fondly at team pictures...you were such a good sport wearing the teal green coach shirt(or current color of the season), shorts and socks to the knees :) Thanks so much for the memories Tom, you will be missed...Much love to the Forte Girls from the Mertens Girls!!!
