Margie Velma Mines

1929 - 2017

MINES, Margie Velma, of Lynchburg, passed this life on Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2017, at the Life Care Center of Lynchburg at the age of 88. Mrs. Mines was born in Moore County to the late H.T. and Belle Gore Wiseman. Mrs. Mines was a longtime member of Hoover's Grove Church of Christ and worked in quality control for the American Can Company. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mines was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Mines; one daughter, Shirley Park; and 10 brothers and sisters. She is survived by two daughters, Judy McAfee and her husband Darrell, of Lynchburg and Peggy Reed and her husband Jeff, of Moore County; one grand-daughter, Katy Busby and her husband David; and two great-grandchildren, Danyeal and Michael Busby. Visitation for Mrs. Mines was held from 5 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5 at Kilgore Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Aug. 6, at Hoover's Grove Church of Christ with Brothers Jim Sanders and Frank Ford officiating. Burial will follow in the Hoover's Grove Church of Christ Cemetery. Kilgore Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
