Aubyn Byers Howe

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Aubyn Byers Howe on October 8, 2021. She was a loving wife, mother, and friend to all whose lives she touched.

Aubyn was born to Charles and Veta Byers on December 31, 1940. She grew up in Houston, graduating from Lamar High School and continued her education at University of Texas at Austin where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority and Pi Omega Pi, the honorary business society. On a blind date she met and later married the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Howe.

Bob fell in love with his blonde haired, blue-eyed beauty, asking her to marry him but not until one of them graduated UT. She now had a goal and graduated in 3 years. They spent 60 wonderful years as a married couple!

During her life, Aubyn accomplished many things, all while battling multiple sclerosis for almost 50 years. Her talent to raise several million dollars for Tulsa, Oklahoma charities earned her the recognition "Hundred Tulsans Who Make a Difference". She worked tirelessly for numerous organizations, some of which are the Mental Health Association, the American Heart Association, the National Jewish Center for Immunology and Respiratory Medicine, the March of Dimes, and the Ronald McDonald House.

Her leadership skills were put to good use chairing events both large and small. This fundraising fireball chose to become active in fund raising to "contribute to something that's dear to my heart, where I could make a difference". She had served on boards of more than 20 different non-profit organizations and received countless community honors, none more personal than her 1996 Maximum Impact Award from the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Aubyn is survived by her devoted husband, Bob; son, Chris and daughter, Carol; brother-in-law, Randy Howe and wife, Anita; and brother-in-law, Jack Chandler and wife, Virginia; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Veta Byers and Bonnie Howe Chandler (sister-in-law).

The family would like to thank the Brookdale Hospice team that provided professional and compassionate care for Aubyn's final two weeks of life. Ashley, Whitney, and Jennifer's care was especially appreciated.
