Bette Knapp Obituary

KNAPP -- Bette L., 87, of Naples, FL, died Thursday, June 2, 2005 at Hospice of Naples. She was born Bette Lambert on October 9, 1917 in Okmulgee, OK. She attended Okmulgee High School where she met her future husband and graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a B.A. Degree. While at the University, she was active in the Speech Department and in the Pi Beta Phi Sorority. Mrs. Knapp graduated with honors and was a member of Phi Beta Phi Kappa and Mortar Board societies. She was a dedicated volunteer in the community of Tulsa, OK where she was President of the Tulsa Garden Center and the Tulsa Boys Home. She devoted herself to the March of Dimes and was President of the Oklahoma Cancer Society. Mrs. Knapp was active in the sisterhood of the PEO. She spent many enjoyable hours gardening, playing golf; collecting seashells and researching the genealogy of her Lambert family. She and her husband moved to Naples, FL in 1982. She is survived by: her daughters and their husbands, Nancy and D.I. Wilkinson of Muskogee, OK and DeeDee and Fred Nold of Naples, FL. Mrs. Knapp had 2 granddaughters, Jennifer Leitner and her husband, Eric of Manchester, NH and Lindsay Cox of Boston, MA. Her husband, George L. Knapp, Jr., her sister, Dorothy Almen and her grandson, Cooper Cox preceded her in death. In Lieu of flowers memorials would be appreciated to the Alzheimer's Support Network, 660 Tamiami Trail North, Suite 21, Naples, FL 34102. A family graveside service was held in Okmulgee, OK.
