Bonnie Sands Obituary

Sands, Bonnie

July 12, 1938 - February 20, 2024

 

Bonnie Jean Sands was born to Ted Schmidt and Bonita Jones in Tulsa on July 12, 1938.  Bonnie graduated from Rogers High School and attended the University of Tulsa where she met and married Don Sands in January 1959.  They lived in Morgan City, Louisiana and Richardson, Texas before returning to Tulsa.  Bonnie worked for Keener Oil Company then later founded and was the director of Wheeling Avenue Christian Church Preschool, was active in the PTA at school and served in various hospitality roles at South Tulsa Baptist Church.  Bonnie's faith in JESUS was the cornerstone of her life.  She helped lead Bible Study Fellowship and prayed diligently for her friends and family.   

Bonnie is survived by son Derrick and his wife Carrie, three granddaughters, Erica and her husband Ian, Drea and her husband Asher, Bri and her husband Noah as well as four great grandchildren, Tyler, Finn, Kallan and Hallie.   Bonnie went to be with the LORD joining her husband, Don and her daughter, Angela on February 20, 2024, just like GOD promised she would… John 3:16 says, "For GOD so loved the world that He gave His only Son that whoever believes in Him will not perish but will have eternal life (in heaven).  

A celebration service for Don and Bonnie will be held on Monday, February 26, at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of South Tulsa Baptist Church
