Brian Rice Obituary

Rice, Brian

Jan 20, 1955 - Dec 3, 2024

Brian Rice, a quintessential baby boomer, was born in Edmond, Oklahoma, on January 20, 1955, the third son of World War II veteran Robert T. Rice and Elizabeth M. Rice (later Matthews). Brian Lee, as he was known in his youth, spent all of his school years in the Edmond Public Schools where he played football for the Bullpups and the Bulldogs.

In late 1995, Brian married Vicki Leslie Watkins, and for nearly thirty years they blended their families from previous marriages into a whole that would bring spouses and grandchildren. Shortly after they married, the couple purchased a beautiful 17-acre tract in the rolling hills east of Sapulpa and renovated the existing split-level house. Their homestead overlooked a small lake that was enjoyed by family and friends throughout the years.

Brian is survived by his wife, Vicki, his children, Joshua B. Rice of Dallas, TX (Jennifer), daughter Jessie Rice Zimpel of Tulsa (Doug), Matthew R. Watkins of Sand Springs (Jennifer), Amie N. Watkins Moreland of Katy Texas (Jon), and Jacob M. Watkins of Broken Arrow (Stephanie). "King Pa" had ten grandchildren: Tuli Rice, Noah Watkins, Callie Zimpel, Seren Rice, Sophie Watkins, Nollie Watkins, Sterling Moreland, Whitley Moreland, Casper Watkins, and Ellis Moreland. He was also an honorary grandfather to Rayce Toth. He is also survived by his two older brothers Bradley R. Rice of Madison, GA (Deneice), Barry T. Rice of Edmond (Arleather) and half-sister Marsha Huddleston of Boswell. Other survivors include his stepmother Susan Rice and stepsister Kelly Partyka (Ken) of Edmond as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and wonderful friends.

Brian died of complications from Lewy Body and Parkinson's diseases. In honor of Brian's love of plants, either flowers or contributions to the Parkinson's Foundation (www.parkinsons.org) and for Lewy Body research would be welcome.
