Carol Russell Obituary
Carol Shermer Russell, 90, of Tulsa, OK, passed away on January 6, 2023 at Clarehouse in Tulsa, OK. She was born in Muldrow, OK on October 8, 1932 and grew up in Ft. Smith, AR. Carol was preceded in death by her parents; Fred and Lola Shermer, of Ft. Smith, AR; husband, Jerry W. Russell and son, Steven K. "Pete" Rose, both of Tulsa; and daughter Kay Russell Sokora of Pilot Point, TX. She was married to Jerry for 38 years until his death at age 73 in 2006.
Carol was a wonderful wife, mother, and disciplinarian, as needed. No one was a stranger to her. She always had a positive attitude and looked for the best in everyone. She was a warm and accepting friend of all, young and old, who needed friendship and counsel. Her love of her faith and her husband Jerry was unwavering. Her development and nurturing of various "families" throughout her life is well recognized and will be long remembered.
Carol is survived by her brother, Michael (Bonnie); cousin Kay Hays, her "little Sis", of Broken Arrow, OK; sons, Randall E. Rose (Georgia) of Tulsa; Michael W. Rose (Gale) of Owasso, OK; and son-in-law Tim Sokora of Pilot Point, TX; grandchildren, Christy French (Chuck); Michael Rose (Jessica); Katie Vestal (Eric Wigginton); Lauren Cole (Gabe); Lindsay Smith (Chris); Kelly Pittsinger (Ryon); and Jill Sokora; great-grandchildren, Darbi Vann (Aaron), Kayli, Tyler, Taylor, Nolan, Roman, Easton, Jack, Alyssa, Camden, Cason and Blake; one great-great grandchild, Cooper; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 14, 2023 in the chapel of Asbury Church, 6767 South Mingo, Tulsa, OK. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Clarehouse or Asbury Church. Moore's Southlawn 918-663-2233 Share memories at www.moorefuneral.com
