Dorman Anderson Obituary

Dorman C. "Andy" Anderson

Dorman C. "Andy" Anderson, Jr. was born February 9, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois to Dorman C. Anderson, Sr. and Natalie (Redfield) Anderson. He graduated from Ripon College, Ripon, WI. where he played on the golf team. Andy joined the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and graduated from Oklahoma University with a degree in Geological Engineering. While at OU he met Janice Hudson of Broken Arrow and they married July 11, 1959.

Anderson worked for Tenneco Oil Co. and then spent 25 years with Transok Pipeline in Tulsa, OK. Upon retirement he and Janice enjoyed traveling and volunteering in the Broken Arrow community. As an active civic leader, Andy served various boards and committees. Two highlights were his involvement as a charter member of the Broken Arrow Community Foundation board and with a passion for education he served as a Broken Arrow School Board Member for 17 years. Andy loved working around his long-time farm and was pleased to have it become part of the Broken Arrow's Events Park near the NSU Campus.

He is survived by his wife Janice of 63 years, two daughters, Gerri Petty (Scott) and Holly Doyle (Joe) and six grandchildren, Catherine Petty, Will Petty, Brendan Doyle, Andrew Doyle, Luke Doyle and Emma Doyle. He is also survived by two brothers, M.R. Anderson and B.K. Anderson, both of Edmond, OK.

The family would like to extend a sincere thanks to the staff at Porta Caeli House in Tulsa, Oklahoma for their compassionate hospice care during his final days. Memorial gifts in Andy's honor may be directed to the Broken Arrow Community Foundation or the Broken Arrow Historical Society.

Janice, Gerri, Holly and to all of the family, We are so sorry for your loss. I always loved seeing Andy on visits to Colorado. He was such a thoughtful man; one to be admired for certain. You are all in our thoughts.

Janice, Our condolences on Andy's passing. I first met him when he, Larry Thompson and I would ride home to BA together after work. Later, I worked with Andy at Transok.
Andy was always a gentleman and a class act. You have my prayers.
