Gary Summers Obituary

Gary Lee Summers

Gary Lee Summers, 78, was reunited with his brother, Larry, on Saturday, November 20, 2021...the first day of hunting season. Gary was residing in Naples, FL, close to his daughter, Marnie. He previously lived in Flint Ridge, OK, where he had countless close friends.

Gary graduated from Central High School in Tulsa and attended Oklahoma State University. He worked most of his life in sales but his true passion was mentoring kids. Gary's most noteworthy accomplishment was giving of himself as a mentor to countless young people in the Tulsa and Claremore area. He coordinated the 4th of July Youth Fishing Tournament in Claremore for numerous years. In addition Gary gave of himself to children of family, friends and strangers. There are youth all over the area who have developed a love for the land, for hunting and for good citizenship because of his dedication to the development of young people.

Gary was preceded in death by his identical brother, Larry; his father, Richard Summers and his mother, Lorene Summers. He is survived by his son, Brett Summers (Renee); granddaughter, Genevieve of Charleston, SC and his daughter, Marnie Messler (Mike) of Naples, FL. Brett and Marnie are grateful beyond words to have been raised by such an honorable man. He is also survived by his sister, Pam Summers of Tulsa; as well as niece, Jennifer Willis (David); niece, Kathryn Bacon (Todd) and great nephews, Blake Willis and Connor Bacon; as well as his great nieces, Taylor Willis and Kamryn Bacon; also his extended family, Todd Steidley (Kelli) and their son, Garrett and daughter, Erin.

Gary's passing left a giant hole in the heart of so many people he loved and mentored during his lifetime...too many to even mention. He was a great man who will be missed by all. There will be a casual celebration of Gary's life on Sunday, December 12th, 11:00AM at Restore House, 924 S. Main Street, Broken Arrow, OK. 74012 (Camo welcome!)

What a great guy he was. We worked together at Kissee Ford and developed a wonderful friendship. He was someone that felt like you had known all your life.

Such a fun and caring man. He helped me buy a car during a rough time in my life many years ago in Tulsa. I was a friend through Paula. My deepest sympathy to the family!

We are very sorry for your loss. Your Dad was an amazing man. We greatly appreciated his friendship and we will miss our weekly calls and hearing him laugh. We enjoyed many fun times in Flint Ridge. With deepest Sympathy, Bob and Cynthia
