Hal Hightower Obituary

HIGHTOWER -- Hal Wayne, born July 13, 1971, in El Paso, TX, died in Humble, TX, on May 12, 2005, at the age of 33. Mr. Hightower is survived by: his wife of 4-1/2 years, Michaela Hightower of Humble, TX; mother, Helen Hightower and father, Phillip Hightower, both of Tulsa, OK; brother, Darren A. Hightower and his wife, Kelli of Tulsa, OK; nephews, Jace and Rhett Hightower; and many friends. Hal will be missed and forever remembered as a loving husband, son, brother and friend. Visitation was 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, May 15, 2005, and funeral service was 2 p.m., Monday, May 16, 2005, in the Chapel of Kingwood Funeral Home with the Reverend Swede Erickson officiant. On behalf of my family I want to express my deepest condolences to Helen, Phillip, Darren and Hal’s wife Michaela.

Hal was one of my best friends growing up in Sun Meadow. We graduated from Jenks together in 1989 and shared a lot of good times together.

Thinking back on those days just about every great memory I have from that time Hal was a part of in one way or another. Hal was someone you wanted to be around. If you were down, he picked you up. Rarely did you get a chance to repay the favor because Hal was never down. He was always upbeat. Always smiling. He made you a better person just by being in his presence.

Hal and I lost contact with each other a few years after graduation. And even though it has been way too long since I had last spoken to him, the news of his passing fills me with grief and the deep regret of so much lost time. I will carry the fond memories of Hal with me forever. He was one of a kind.

We hold your family in our thoughts and prayers. My memories of Hal are of his devotion to his Mother, Wife and family. I remember him smiling as he opened the door for his Mom when we both happen to pull up at the same restuarant for Mother's Day lunch---his love and admiration was so obvious. I remember the day of his wedding and his smile that was always bright simply beamed from ear to ear. I know how close Hal and Darren were and how they enjoyed their time together at OSU. There are no words to comfort you in your time of loss and I know that only God can grant you the strength to get through this time. Please know that I will be praying and that I will be here anytime you need a friend to lean on. Love, Gay and Jim Sanwick
