J.W. Lewis Obituary

J.W. "Rocky" Lewis

August 13, 1943 - May 3, 2025

J.W. "Rocky" Lewis passed from this life on May 3, 2025. He was born on Friday, August 13, 1943. His parents were Jerdie & Verda Lewis in Cleveland, Ok. He attended school in Cleveland and graduated in 1961. While in school he was active in sports, playing football and excelling in basketball and track. After high school he attended his beloved Oklahoma State University, where he had earned a track scholarship. He bled orange his entire life.

Rocky married Sandra Shults on October 2, 1976 and they made their home in Broken Arrow. They were together over forty-eight years. They loved being with friends, traveling, and spending time at their cabin on Lake Tenkiller.

Rocky loved the outdoors. He enjoyed many hunting and fishing trips with his friends, as much for the camaraderie as for the sport. He was active in Ducks Unlimited and was State Chairman from 1979-1981. He met friends from all over the United States and Canada due to this involvement. He and some friends started the GOOOD OLE' BOYS DU chapter in Tulsa.

Rocky was in the Real Estate business for many years. In the 1970's he became a licensed real estate appraiser and continued working into his late 70's.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and son Brandon. He is survived by wife Sandy, daughter Brandi, son Josh, son Jordan, grandchildren Addie, Benny, Bianca, and his favorite cousin Nicky, as well as many friends, family, & acquaintances.
