James Joseph "Jim" Allen

James Allen Obituary

ALLEN -- James "Jim" Joseph. On Wednesday, August 9, 2006, at the age of 56 years, Jim was called Home to be with the Lord. He was born October 5, 1949, in Siloam Springs, AR, to Hayden Thomas and Evadean (Blagg) Allen. He was reared and educated in Colcord, OK and graduated with the Colcord High School Class of 1967. He was a Veteran of the Armed Forces, having served his country honorably with the United States Army. Jim spent most of his working life at Pepsi, and retired in 2004, after 28 years of service. He was married January 1, 1993, to Janet Elaine Allen. He had 2 biological children, Jason and Shawna and raised them with the knowledge that family comes first. He also became father to Jane's 2 daughters, Julie and Susan. Jim always treated them equally and loved them with the same intensity as his own children. He was a faithful member of the Owasso First Baptist Church, where he continued to grow as a Christian. He enjoyed a variety of pastimes including hosting Sunday School parties, and loving his grandchildren, who knew him as PePa. He also enjoyed watching the kids' sporting events and surprising his grandkids with things beyond their dreams (like getting them a horse), and letting them throw huge parties at his home. The grandkids will always have wonderful memories of the pop machine that he kept on his back porch that took nickels in which he kept in a bowl outside for them to use. He always had a quarter for them as they left his house. He was the ultimate PePa, to Hayden, Mackinlee, Sydney, and J.T. Allen and Riley and Mason Whiteis and Eli Walker. Jim's faith in God is what allowed him the strength to battle this cancer with grace. Loving family members includes his loving faithful wife of 13 years, Janet Elaine; 4 children, Jason (Rhonda) Allen, Shawna Allen, Julie (Robert) Walker, Susan (John) Ha; 7 grandchildren; 1 brother, JH "Big Jim" (Mary) Allen; 1 sister, Kathy (Chester) Raglin; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by: his father, Hayden Thomas Allen; mother, Frances Evadean Allen; and 1 brother, Michael Norton Allen. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. - 8 p.m., Thursday, August 10, 2006, at Mowery Funeral Service. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, August 11, 2006, at Mowery Funeral Service Chapel, with Dr. Roger Ferguson and Pastor Andrew Finch officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions to: Child Trust, First Baptist Church, Attn: Chuck Self, P.O. Box 1020, Owasso, OK 74055. Committal service and interment will follow at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa, OK. Arrangements and service were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso, (918) 272-6244.

Janet, words cannot express our sorrow with the passing of Jimmy. He was a great friend and we will miss him terriably, but we know that he is in a better place with no pain and sitting next to god. We loved you both very much and pray for you each day. Love

The generosity of Jim Allen extended to exchange students visiting Eisenhower International School when he opened his home to wonderful autumn parties for them and their host families. His grandchildren attended Eisenhower. He touched the lives of many at this school. Heartfelt sympathy and love to Jason, Rhonda and their children as they face this great loss.
