James Banes Obituary

BANES - James Irvin, Sr. (Jim), 87, of Tulsa, OK, passed away Tuesday June 3, 2008. Born 1920 in Meridian, MS the son of Louis and Stella Banes. He was one of four sons and one daughter. James and Noreen Banes were married in Mounds, OK in February 1946 and lived in Tulsa OK. James is survived by his wife Noreen; 4 sons: Bob (and wife Jamie), Mike, Jim Jr. (and wife Patty), Tom (and wife Evie); 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. James joined the army in 1943 and served tours of duty in New Guinea and Tokyo Japan. After graduating from Oklahoma A&M Jim worked for Bethlehem Steel and Harley Industries in Sales Engineering of Oilfield equipment, and later retired in 1991, from JW Operation Co. in Addison TX. He became a Mason in 1942, in Cavry, MS Lodge #554, and later transferred his membership to Broken Arrow Masonic Lodge #243. James received his 50 year pin and 32nd degree Scottish Rite during his 66 years of Masonic service. He loved to travel to Alaska, Hawaii, England and Canada. Public viewing will be from 2 p.m. till 5 p.m., Friday June 6, at Bixby Funeral Service, 13307 S Memorial Bixby, OK.
