Janet Thompson Obituary

Janet Ann Thompson

Janet Ann Thompson, wife, mom, grandma, sister, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2022, at the age of 76.

Janet was born to Roy and Dorothy Sager on September 23, 1945 in McPherson, Kansas. She grew up in McPherson, graduating from McPherson High School in 1963. After high school, Janet completed training as a lab technician, and worked in Dodge City, Kansas.

In 1966, Janet met Jerry Thompson, of Coldwater, Kansas. Janet and Jerry fell in love and were married in 1968. They began their married life in Wichita, KS and soon moved to Tulsa, OK. Within a few years, they settled in Broken Arrow where they established their home. Motherhood was a natural fit for Janet as she devoted herself to nurturing and caring for their four children: Kimberly, Ryan, Matthew, and Tammy.

Janet continued her call to serve others as a surgical technician in labor and delivery at Saint Francis Hospital where she worked for nearly 25 years. She cared for countless new mothers and newborn babies with the understanding and compassion that only a mother could share.

Janet dedicated her life to her family - there was nothing more important to her than time spent together, especially as her family continued to grow. Her ten grandchildren were a source of such pride, joy and love. From rocking babies to preparing favorite meals, attending sporting and cheer events to watching ballet performances, and celebrating birthdays to hosting holiday gatherings, Janet always modeled family love.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Dorothy Sager. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 54 years, Jerry Thompson of Broken Arrow; daughter Kimberly Kerr and husband James of Edmond, Oklahoma; son Ryan Thompson and wife Angie of Owasso, Oklahoma; son Matthew Thompson and wife Brooke of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; daughter Tammy Brewer and husband Adam of Tulsa, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren, Jake and wife Alex, Abby and Kate of Edmond, Oklahoma; Cameron and Bailey of Owasso, Oklahoma; Madison, Taylor and Wyatt of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Aaron and Eli of Tulsa, Oklahoma; brother Gary Sager and wife Beth of Salina, Kansas; and sister Kay Wachtman of Loveland, Colorado.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Janet's name to the Oklahoma chapter of the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org/oklahoma). Visitation will be 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Sunday, February 27th, at Floral Haven Funeral Home. Services will be held on February 28th at 12:30 at Floral Haven in Broken Arrow.
