Joe Oglesby Obituary

OGLESBY - Joe, 88, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2008. Joe was born March 2, 1920, in Krebs, OK to Clayton P. and Elsie Mae Oglesby. He attended high school in McAlester, OK and graduated in 1936. He was employed by Public Service Company of Oklahoma in various accounting and management positions until retirement in 1985 with 49 years of service. He recorded only one half day sick in the 49 years of service. He married Betty Jean Weems while working in Hugo. Betty preceded him in death last August. Marc Oglesby was born to Betty and Joe also while they lived in Hugo. Joe was a 25 year member of the Lions Club. In 1972, Joe became a professional artist. He created over 4,000 paintings during his life. Joe volunteered for the Red Cross and Hospice. Joe and Betty became members at Asbury United Methodist Church in 1972 and was a member of the Happy Christians Class until death. Joe served in the US Army from October, 1942 through November, 1945 and received the rank of Technical Sergeant. Survived by: Marc Oglesby and wife, Janet of Arlington, TX. They have 2 sons, Craig and Wesley Oglesby. Visitation 4 - 6 p.m., Sunday, April 13, 2008, Moore's Southlawn. Graveside service will be 10 a.m., Monday, April 14, 2008, at Memorial Park Cemetery followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m., at Mason Chapel-Asbury United Methodist Church. Have no Idea why we don't know each other, we are second cousins.
But our family is so sorry for your loss. My dad was Gearld Joesph (Jerry) Oglesby. I had the pleasure of meeting Joe once down in McAlester . He joined my Dad & I for lunch. Such a lovey gentleman! Our Mom and Dad have passed too.
My heart and prayers go out to you!
