I worked with him at St. Francis hospital and remember his kind and compassionate care for his patients and their families. He was unfortunately the one to deliver sad news most of the time. I miss so many of the talented and professional doctors I was fortunate to work along side. Terry Byers RN

I first met John as I was finishing fellowship training at the University of Michigan; he was in the same program one year behind me. I liked him immediately and asked him to talk to me before he made any final decisions to locate. He did, came to Tulsa and decided to give it a try. This, in my opinion, was one of the best things to happen to our heme/onc practice. John was a very hard worker, a remarkably well prepared physician and a kind and sympathetic doc. At the beginning of our association the workdays were long. The two of us split the duty with one covering hospital patients at Hillcrest, Doctors and St John´s and the other running our increasingly busy office. Our first attempt to add another doc didn´t turn out well but subsequent efforts were much more successful and we generally managed to stay reasonably well staffed. Through all of this John performed admirably and, in my humble opinion, made a remarkable effort to keep up on a regular basis with advances in our field. His patients adored him for the kindness he showed and the quality of his care. John and I marched in lock step in subsequent years, with both of us retiring in 2000. He returned to his beloved family farm in St. Genovieve where he had many years of hunting and fishing before his final illness claimed him.
