John Teague Obituary

LTC John A. Teague

Apr 21, 1938 - Aug 17, 2025

John "Jack" Alfred Teague, age 87, died Sunday, August 17, 2025 at Montereau in Tulsa with his loving wife Carolyn holding his hand.

Born in Newburyport, Massachusetts, on April 21, 1938, Jack was the son of the late John Teague and Eleanor (Dow) Gorski. After graduating from Newburyport High School in 1958 he began his long service to our nation when he joined the U.S. Army. It was while he was home on leave that he met the love of his life. He and Carolyn were married on October 21, 1961, in Old Town, Maine, beginning a 64-year love story that included 25 homes stretched across continents.

Jack served as a Corps of Engineers officer for over 20 years. He commanded a company in Vietnam and served in multiple facilities engineering assignments before retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1983. While he was serving, he also earned a bachelor's degree at Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a master's degree from Central Michigan University. After retiring from the Army, he brought his engineering experience to the City of Springfield, Massachusetts, where he served as the Superintendent of Public Buildings until 2002. In 2021 he and Carolyn made their last move to Tulsa.

In his retirement he got to play a lot of golf and bring back his passion for classic cars. A lifelong New England sports fan who grew up with the Celtics string of championships he got to see the Bruins, Patriots, and finally the Red Sox all become champions.

He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and Soldier.

Jack is survived by his wife, Carolyn; their three sons, Michael and wife, Dawn, Daniel, and Christopher and wife, Jamie; their four grandchildren, Courtney and husband, Anthony Ruby, Kaitlin, Jonathan (Jake) and wife, Kelsea, and Haylee; and six great-grandchildren, Clayton Walker, Declan Ruby, Lydia Teague, Connor Ruby, Bennett Walker, and Jameson Walker.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Teague; mother, Eleanor (Dow) Gorski; and sister, Brenda (Teague) Felch.

A funeral mass for family and friends will be held at the Calvary Cemetery Chapel on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at 10 a.m., and a memorial service at the Montereau Chapel on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made in his memory to either the Family House Foundation at familyhouseinc.org or to Folds of Honor Foundation at www.foldsofhonor.org.

Col Jack and I got to know each other at Montereau. When ever we saw each other, we saluted. We had several talks, even within the last week before we lost him. God Bless him and his Wonderful Wife, Carolyn!!!!!!
