Raymond Hornak Obituary

Hornak, Raymond

Nov 12, 1930 - Nov 10, 2024

Raymond Emil Hornak was born in Cleveland, Ohio on November 12, 1930 and entered into eternal life just two days short of his 94th birthday. Ray lived by the motto God, Family, Country…, and OU football – Not always in that order!

Ray and his sister Irene were raised in a multigenerational home with parents, as well as his maternal grandparents. Ray learned early on the importance of family taking care of one another. Their lives centered around their Catholic faith. His Catholic faith was something that sustained him throughout his life; and whether Catholic or not, Ray often gifted miraculous medals to those suffering or in need of a miracle.

Ray proudly served in the US Army, where he counseled peers and saw the world. He developed a love for his country and ended every prayer in "And God bless our country".

Ray attended Ohio State University and John Carroll University. After college, Ray took a job with Republic Steel in Cleveland. This job not only kicked off his lifelong career, it is also where he met the love of his life, Rosemary Yarchak. Ray's job took them to Kansas City and then to Tulsa which quickly became home for Ray and his family. Although many miles away from family in Ohio, the Hornak's made lifelong friends that became family to them. When asked to move a third time, Ray declined and started his own sales agency, representing Republic Steel as an independent agent. This family business not only provided for his family but helped Ray form lifelong friendships with customers.

Ray is survived by his wife of 64 years, Rosemary, daughter Roseanne Hornak, son Rick (Madeline) Hornak, and grandchildren Casey Baker, John Hornak, and Cate Hornak. Ray was predeceased by his son Raymond John Hornak, parents John and Anne Hlusak, and sister Irene Hornak. We would like to thank Ray's caregivers Roberta, Nancy and Paula who made the last several years wonderful for both Ray and Rosemary! We would also like to thank the wonderful people at Hillcrest South who not only took great care of dad, but also became his good friends.

A Visitation will be held on, Tuesday, November 26th, from 5:00 pm -7:00 pm, with a Rosary to follow at 7:00 pm, both at Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, November 27th, at 11:00 am, at Church of St. Mary. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to Bishop Kelley High School in memory of Ray. www.fitzgeraldfuneralservice.com
