Richard DeBrosse Obituary
Richard Martin (Bruiser) DeBrosse
Richard Martin (Bruiser) DeBrosse, long-time Tulsa restaurant mechanic and inventor, died Tuesday, March 23, 2021, at the age of 66 from COVID-19.
Always ready to help in any way he could, Richard would find the solution to anyone's problems and want nothing more than a "Thank you" in return. He was known for his technical talent, non-judgemental and playful nature, dedication to spreading love, unique humor, uninhibited teachings, and his love of music. He was like a father to many people and will always be deeply loved by all those who were lucky enough to actually know him.
Born in Tulsa on February 22, 1955, Richard was the youngest of 7. He attended Wilson and Central High School, Class of 1973. His Never Give Up attitude that he displayed since he could walk never faltered. He gave the absolute most he could possibly give to those who he loved right up to the very end. He always found the fun, even in difficult situations.
Richard began his mechanical training at an early age, by working on his bikes, then his cars. His mechanical career started in earnest in 1979 when he joined Mecelec as a technician. Then in 1983 he started working for Rainbo Bread, where he earned his Class 3 Engineering license. The last time he ever worked for anyone else was 1990-2005 at Hobart, where he was known as the man that could fix any problem. Finally, in mid 2005 he founded his own company, Bruiser's Food Equipment, which he passed on to his son last year.
Richard always had a very close relationship with his two boys and within the past 2 decades he became very close with his niece and became a grandfather to her three precious little girls, and new baby boy. He also frequented his two favorite places in the world, Spring Creek and Jerry and Jeanie's.
Richard is survived by his two sons, Jared and Joel; his niece, Kalla and her children, Navy, Ava, Londyn, and Denver; his ex-wife and friend, Toli; his sisters, Mary and Rita; his brothers, Robert, Raymond, and Edmond; and the hundreds of people's lives who he affected so positively. He was preceded in death by his brother, Roy; his beloved mother, Leora, and his father, Alfred.
A celebration of life will be held in his honor in late April/early May. Please feel free to contact his boys at 918-609-0908, if you have any questions, want to attend, or just want to express your love of Richard.
