Robert Anderson Obituary

Robert Jeffrey "Jeff" Anderson

March 23, 1951 - July 8, 2024

Robert Jeffrey "Jeff" Anderson passed away peacefully on July 8, 2024; he was 73 years old.

Jeff was born on March 23, 1951, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Jean Ann Simpson and Robert Leland Anderson. Apart from a brief stay for the family in Pennsylvania, where his father served as a surgeon during the Korea Campaign, and several years in Arkansas while married to Jan Newlin, Jeff spent the balance of his life in Oklahoma. His last many years he lived on ten wooded acres outside of Kiefer.

A quiet man, Jeff had many remarkable talents. As a boy he was both admonished and lauded for taking everything apart, from radios to automobiles, just to see how they were put together. He usually got them back in working order.

Jeff could frame a house by himself and do the finish work. When the most fastidious decorators of Tulsa saw his work as a painter, he quickly became over-subscribed. He went from being mechanically inclined to becoming serious about electronics. He self-taught several computer languages and became a programmer before it was in vogue to do so. Some of his creations for oil and gas resources are still in use today.

Music was Jeff's passion. His lifelong close circle of friends were music devotees, as well. While a few of them pursued successful careers as musicians, Jeff sought no limelight. He was a pianist and played for his closest friends and family. Recordings of him playing both music he wrote and that of others are cherished by many.

Jeff was predeceased by his mother, his father, and several of his closest friends. He is survived by his sisters, Belynda Spitzer (Weldon) and Beverly Anderson, his nieces and nephew, Amanda Settle, Ann Gimlin (Ryan), and Marvin Anderson, and grand-nephews, Jackson and Wesley Settle.

As a person, Jeff was of the highest moral character. He was one who could not tell a lie or betray who he was, even when it meant a far more difficult path. He was steadfastly true to himself. Jeff was a deeply devoted son, brother and friend; a kind man who is dearly missed.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 8, 2025, 2:00 p.m., at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5111 S Memorial Drive, Tulsa.
