Sammy Peek Obituary

PEEK - Sammy Eugene, 62, passed away September 18, 2009. He was born to Sam and Isa Belle Peek on November 18, 1946. He graduated from Daniel Webster High School in 1965. After serving in the army in Viet Nam he returned home and went to college. Sam enjoyed playing baseball and being an umpire for the Westside Kids Baseball League for many, many years. After he became ill he moved to Oklahoma City to live with his sister, Susie and her family to be near the VA hospital. Thanks to the staff of the VA Infusion Clinic where Sam spent most of his time in the last 4 years. They were really awesome. Survived by sisters: Lois Boutwell, Denison, TX, Jean McCully, Kansas, OK, Sylvia Cosper, Pineville, MO, and Deanna Susie Hardin of Oklahoma City, OK; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Family will greet friends and relatives from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, September 21st and service will be: 10 a.m., Tuesday, September 22, 2009, both at Mark Griffith's Westwood Chapel. I met Sam as a student at NEO. He became a good friend. I lost track of him after we transfered to CSU in Edmond. I am very sorry to hear of his passing. I wish that I could have stayed in touch with him.
