Sandra Moore Obituary

Sandra Moore

Sandra Helen McKinnon Moore was born May 25, 1944 in Columbus, Ohio to Kenneth Guy McKinnon and Helen Louise Jones McKinnon. She passed away February 17, 2022 at her home in Broken Arrow following a 50 year battle with multiple sclerosis.

Sandy is survived by her husband of 50 years, Del; her son Brian (Leeann) and their children Ava and Brooks of Kearney, MO; her daughter Megan (Doug) Rogers and their children Ryan and Lauren of Norman, OK; her sister Barbara Handel of Trafalgar, IN, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sandy grew up in the Columbus, OH area where she developed a love for all things Buckeye. She brought that love to Broken Arrow when her young family relocated in 1977. She grew to love her Broken Arrow home, where she spent her time in a variety of volunteer activities, beginning with her children's school PTA activities, where she eventually became president. As the children outgrew those needs she turned her attention to the local hospital, where she volunteered for years, rising to the presidency of the auxiliary and eventually becoming the Director of Volunteers.

As Sandy continually gave of herself to her family, friends and community, her constant companion, multiple sclerosis, gradually took away her various physical abilities. She never complained as she adjusted to a cane, then a walker, then an electric cart, and finally to a hoyer lift. As her license plate proudly proclaimed "I'll beat MS", she did. For 50 years.

For those who wish to remember Sandy, the family requests donations to Broken Arrow Neighbors, one of many beneficiaries of Sandy's time and energy during her last years. Details for a celebration of Sandy's life will be announced shortly.

Such a special lady. So happy MaryAnn was able to speak to Sandy just 2 months ago when she accidentally called her on FaceTime! Will miss our bubbly, positive cousin so much.
