Susan Campbell Bey
May 11, 1942 - Oct 29, 2025
Susan Campbell Bey was born in Alpena, Michigan on May 11, 1942, the only child of Dorothy (Stoner) Campbell and Eugene Campbell. She graduated from Alpena High School in 1960, Henry Ford Community College in 1964, and the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1975. She practiced as a registered nurse in Michigan, California, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Missouri. She loved her profession. Later while their children were young she worked in the Primary School Library at Holland Hall.
In 1968 she married Roger Paul Bey. For 57 years he was her rock. Their family was complete with the arrival of David (born in 1979) and Michael (born in 1981). She would tell you that absolutely nothing compared to motherhood.
Susan believed that education was of the utmost importance and that literacy was the key to education. She loved libraries and was an avid reader. Among her favorite books were NO ONE IS TOO SMALL TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE by Greta Thunberg, and THE HILL WE CLIMB by Amanda Gorman. She enjoyed traveling internationally with Roger. One of her favorite places was Ucluelet, British Columbia and Black Rock Ocean Front Resort where they watched the Vancouver Winter Storms. She also believed that it was every person's responsibility to give back in a generous, compassionate, and meaningful way. And as a volunteer for the
American Red Cross, Oklahoma Blood Institute, Ronald McDonald House, Grissom Elementary School, German American Society of Tulsa, and Fellowship Lutheran Church quilters she did.
Susan died on October 27, 2025 in Tulsa, OK. She will be remembered-sometime humorously-by Roger and their sons and daughters-in-law (Beth and Stephanie) for her personality quirks. Her two grandchildren, Bailee and Lorelei, gave her joy beyond measure. Friends and family members knew her to be honest, ethical, and forthright.
Memorial Service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 8, 2025 at Fellowship Lutheran Church, Tulsa. Susan requested no floral memorials, rather that contributions in her name be made to: Foundation for Tulsa Schools -- Grissom Elementary School; Fellowship Lutheran Church Capital Improvement Fund, 6727 S.
