Velva-Jo Johnson Obituary
Velva-Jo Johnson passed peacefully on Monday, January 25, 2021, at the age of 86. She was born to Allen and Mildred Cooper in Cushing, OK, on November 3, 1934. Velva-Jo graduated from Rogers High School in 1952. She met the love of her life, Donald W. Johnson at Phillips University and they were married on September 4, 1955. Velva-Jo served as a kindergarten teacher for three decades, most of the time in the Tulsa Public School system. Velva-Jo was active at church, working in children's ministry, mission's ministry, and she led a women's Bible study in her home for many years. Her passion was her grandchildren and great granddaughter. Velva-Jo was preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Mildred Cooper, and her husband of 52 years, Donald W. Johnson. She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Loy and Deanie Johnson of Tulsa, Barry and Robin Johnson of Stillwater; eleven grandchildren; and one great granddaughter.

Velva-Jo was a very special person. She is with the Lord along with her husband Don. My husband was a student of Mr. Johnson at Nathan Hale High School where he taught chemistry. She will be sorely missed.

Velva-Jo will truly be missed, has her husband Don is. Growing up in the same neighborhood. They were great parents, they raised 2 sons that they both had many reasons to be so proud of. They were great neighbors, and invited, then took my brother and I to Bible School. That made our mother very happy. She spoke often of her family as a mother will do. She is now with Don again, praising God.
