Walter Lahman Obituary

Lahman, Walter C.

Aug 21, 1927 - Jun 12, 2024

Walter (Walt) C. Lahman, of Tulsa, passed away on June 12, 2024, after a short illness.

Walt was born on August 21, 1927 to Sherwood and Katherine Lahman in Enid, OK.

After graduating from Will Rogers High, he entered the Navy during WWII, serving from 1945-1946 on the U.S.S. Frontier. Walt also served as a major in the U.S. Air Force Reserve.

After his military service, he studied engineering at the University of Texas in Austin, where he met Marjorie (Marge), the love of his life and fellow jazz lover, at a record store.

Walt had a long career as a sales engineer with Myers-Aubrey Co., but music was his passion. He was a professional trombone player, playing locally with many bands, including the Ken Downing Band. He loved traveling to jazz festivals across the country.

Walt and Marge were involved in the Tulsa Jazz Club for many years, and he was a member of the American Federation of Musicians-Local 94.

Walter was preceded in death by Marge.

He is survived by his daughters Marsha Autry and Kathy Wyss (Larry), grandchildren Christine Kallmbah, Katherine Higdon, Evan Wyss, and Kyle Wyss, great grandchildren LeeAnn Finke, Ashlee Finke, Krystal Higdon, and Maddy Higdon. He also had a special place in his heart for the Anderson family and many, many other friends.

Walt lived his best life for 96 years, remaining independent in the house that he and Marge called home for many years; enjoying his final years as a sentimental collector, avid reader, fan of coincidences, and spending time with loved ones.
