Mary Pond Obituary
Her husband, Harvey "Yank" Pond, her daughter, Donna Jo West, her parents, Eugene and Linnie Porter, and her brother, Jimmy Porter, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her daughter, Kim (Darryl) Bearden of West Blocton; son, John W. (Sherry) West of Vance; sister, Faye (Wayne) Simmons of West Blocton; brother, Tommy (Brenda) Porter of Tuscaloosa; and grandchildren, Patrick West, Austin Bearden, Summer West, and Jason Bearden.
Mrs. Pond graduated from Brookwood High School in 1956. She was a loving, devoted mom, grandmom, sister, aunt and friend.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Simmons, Patrick West, Austin Bearden, Darryl Bearden, Dale Porter and Michael Porter.

Mom, I love you and you knew it. You taught us how to love and how important it was to tell each other.
When we fought as children we were made to "hug and kiss" and tell the
sibling you had just slugged it out with that "you loved them." We hated to do that but as silly as it seemed at the time it is what I remember the most today. GOD has granted me 40 wonderful years with you and I am grateful. I will think of you everyday for the rest of my life. I take comfort in knowing that you are strolling the streets of heaven and having that conversation with your parents that
you have longed for.

I am so sad about Jeanette. My prayers and thoughts are with Tommy and Brenda, Faye and Wayne, and Jeanette's children and grandchildren. I'm sorry I can't be down there with you all. Jeanette was a good and kind cousin; Jeanette's ways and manners always reminded me of Aunt Lennie.

We are so sorry to hear about Jeanette. We Graduated High school with Jeanette. Had not seen her since 1956 until 2006 at our ' 50th ' Class Reunion. I am so sorry.
