Mattie Crawford Obituary
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Crawford, Sr.; son, Wilmon Gosa, Jr.; daughter, Sheila Gosa; and siblings, Alberta Blackburn, Lugusta Blackburn Harris, Bessie Blackburn Marshall, Thero Blackburn, Essie Mae Blackburn Morrow, Lester Blackburn, Mable Blackburn Sparks, and Willard Blackburn
Survivors include her stepchildren, Eddie Crawford, Jr. (Mary) and Queen Holley (Thomas), both of Tuscaloosa; sisters, Annie Dora Cunningham (Rosco) of Ralph, Ala. and Mary Ella Wells of Cleveland, Ohio; 11 grandchildren, Darryl George (Rachaelle) of Oakland, Calif., Nealofier Rhodes (James) of Pensacola, Fla., Wanda Fears (William) of Jackson, Miss., Shon Henderson of Tenn., Sheila Smitherman (Juan) of McCalla, Ala., Jasmine Hoffman (Justin) of Atlanta, Ga., Courtney Minor, Angela Jones, Andre Jones, Sharon Simpson (Willie), and Eddie Crawford, III, all of Tuscaloosa; 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Mrs. Crawford was born on July 6, 1920, to the late Romeo and Hattie Blackburn in Buhl, Ala. She attended Stillman College, where she earned a degree in nursing. She provided exceptional nursing care at DCH Regional Medical Center for more than 36 years until her retirement. She was an active member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa, where she served faithfully until her death.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Morrow, Alexander Morrow, Cleveland Foster, Wallace Blackburn, Joseph Foster, Lathan Harris, and Theroux Blackburn.
The family expresses its deepest thanks to Johnny Morrow, Erma Morrow, Alexander Morrow, Elna Morrow, and Felicia Hinton for their exceptional caregiving.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Tabernacle Baptist Church, 3218 21st Street, Tuscaloosa, AL 35401.
