Sandra Keith Obituary

TUSCALOOSA - Sandra Spencer Keith, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., went peacefully to her heavenly home on December 14, 2018 surrounded by her family. After her valiant fight with breast cancer in 2003, her battle resumed in 2014 with ovarian cancer. Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family and friends carried her through. Even through her own struggle with cancer, she maintained a cheerful demeanor and many were witness to her constant nurturing love and faith. She has left a legacy of love and perseverance.
Sandra was born in Mobile, Ala. on August 26, 1945 to the late Bobbie and Louise Spencer. She moved to Tuscaloosa when she was four years old. At a younger age, she was immersed in her community. She volunteered at Englewood Elementary school where she tutored struggling readers. She also worked for the Tuscaloosa Baptist Association home for troubled young women. She was a 1963 graduate of Tuscaloosa County High School. Sandra went on to pursue a career in cosmetology, graduating from Shelton State in 1965. She was co-owner of The Parlour hair salon where she worked for over 50 years. She was a devoted member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church for 45 years.
Sandra faithfully cared for her family and friends. She was the Godly woman in Proverbs 31. She relied on scripture; she rejoiced in serving the Lord; she was in church every time she could be there; she had a positive attitude and never complained. She is in Heaven because she trusted in the cross and in the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
She is remembered by her devoted husband, Stephen C. Keith; daughters, Tiffany Earnest Rosser (Scotty) and Jamie Jordan Evans (Lee); brother, Gary F. Spencer Sr. (Deb); brother-in-law, Forrest Allen; stepsons, Kirk Keith (Angela) and Brent Keith (Whitney); grandchildren, Gabriel, Kayla and Landon Rosser, Houston, Jordan and Madeline Evans, Emily Keith, Erynn, Kelly, Nathan and Layce Keith. She was MeMe to her grandchildren and they adored her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bobbie and Louise Spencer; infant brother, Joe Bob Spencer; and sisters, Ginger Oglesby and Karla Allen.
Visitation will be held at Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, December 18, 2018, from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral service. The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at Ridgecrest Baptist Church with Reverend Jim Headley officiating. Burial will follow at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Scotty Rosser, Lee Evans, Kirk and Brent Keith, Randy Brown and Richard Payne.
Honorary pallbearers are members of Ridgecrest Baptist Church, Maxine Smith's Sunday school class, The Parlour on Main, the Saturday football group, Dr. Scott R. Fulgham, Dr. John Dubay and the staff of Lewis and Faye Manderson Cancer Center.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Ridgecrest Baptist Church Building Fund, 912 37th Street East, Tuscaloosa, AL 35405.
