August 17, 2015

Fred was always and is still referred to within the Ita family as "Mr. Fredriksen"that was the respect we (especially my father Hans), had for him. I have fond memories of him from as early as the age of 5when he visited us in Brussels, sharing his love of laughter and piano music with my parents in our living room. On one of those business trips while visiting us, my father played the song "Nancy" for him on the piano. Mr. Fredriksen sat me on his lap to listen because he said he missed his own little girl Nancy (though by then I think she was a teenager!). We visited him a few years ago in Miami. He was physically frail but still had a sharp wit - and a twinkle in his eye as he asked me if I would join him in drinking a Kir Royale in the middle of the day. I remember thinking what an amazing spirit and passion for life he had. It was the last time I saw him. On behalf of my family, Hans, Noemy, Jennifer, Heidi and myself, I send you our sincerest sympathy and condolences.

Pat, just a note to tell you how much Sandy Sampair loved your family. He(my father in law) took me to Europe many years ago and you were so gracious and took me under your wing. I was so impressed and Sandy kept mentioning Fred for years. You both touched so many lives, a privilege to know you. God Bless always, Susan (Jim) Sampair
