Bruce was foundational for God's work to college students/faculty in the upper midwest. We're so thankful for this heritage and offer our condolences from InterVarsity in MN, ND and SD.

Jo and Family:

Lots of people have traveled with you and Bruce in blessed association across many subgroups of The Church. Bruce and I go back to 1959--U of M IVCF (Babs Donaldson, and others). Blending unique leadership wisdom with a disarming ease of peer friendship, he unassumingly drew many into the inner circle of Christ-centered knowing and living.

And now he's with The Great Host in White and our Lord Jesus Christ. Blessed is the memory of Bruce Youngquist.

[When my bike was stolen outside of Scott Hall, Bruce loaned me his bike for most of a school year, naturally.]

Youngquist Family,
Although you will miss Bruce, you will have many good memories of this man of God.
Bruce was a mentor to me back in the Payne Ave Baptist and then in IVCF. His godly example and leadership to many people were an inspiration to me. I remember his saying that if your life caused others to praise God, you were in His will. Bruce was a prime example of that.

Dear Steve, Kristi and kids,

I never had the pleasure of meeting Bruce, but feel like I new him a little bit thanks to Lorraine and the kind words she had for him and Jo. I hope that you will find comfort in knowing that he is with God and is finally resting in peace and out of the grips of his illness. Blessings to all of the family. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Steve, Kristi, and Family,

This Emily Dickenson poem reminds me of the kind of person in which Bruce was.

Not In Vein

If I can stop one heart from breaking,
I shall not live in vain:
If I can ease one life the aching,
Or cool one pain,
Or help one fainting robin
Unto his nest again,
I shall not live in vain.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

I am praying for you Jo, and family, as you go through this difficult time. (Bruce was my nephew.) He was always such a fine young man. I remember him as a sweet boy in my 7th grade Sunday School Class when I was the superintendant. May God's grace and fond memories bring you comfort. Love and Prayers.

Bruce was my cousin. His authentic love for God, family, and all people... was an example to me. We are praying for you Jo, and the whole Youngquist family as you celebrate his life and grieve his passing. May the certainty that he is with His Lord be a comfort. Bruce was such a good man. Love and prayers.

We loved a shared life in St. Paul w. the Y. family; Thanksgiving dinners, skating in your backyard, home church worship. Bruce, the energizer, brought students & IV alums together with outstanding speakers, introduced the Midwest to Larry Norman and Love Song, and was a hilarious entertainer at student conference social events.

Bruce was my small group leader during the National Leadership Institue at Cedar Campus in 1968. His joy in life and investment in us made a lasting impression.

To All:

I lived with father Bruce and Jo Youngquist, with young son John, for a few months after college in 1983. All of them were very kind to me. It was a wonderful time for me and they showed me love as one of their own.

I recollect Bruce, had fun with a new young dog, with a lot of enthusiasm, and young "Lucy" did not always want to obey his wishes! He disciplined her with love and I believe a very strong bond eventually developed.

I remember Bruce as a kind, considerate, compassionate, father, husband, man, & minister. He seemed always so considerate and caring of those around him.

I will miss Bruce Youngquist and am grateful he and his family have touched my life.

Sincerely,

David Burns
