I didn't know Dr. Mottaz extremely well, but he made an impression on me. He was my adviser and professor for two classes this past semester. He went to great lengths to make sure I had what I needed and encouraged me to do well in school. I will always remember his kindness, patience, generosity, and sense of humor. He seemed to me to be a person of great moral character who had a genuine care for others. I am praying for the family for your comfort and strength during this time.

Dear Aunt Carole,
Our deepest sympathy to you from the bottom of our hearts. We wish we could be up there with you and the rest of our family. We can't express how shocked and saddened we are to hear of Uncle Skips passing. Please know that even tough we can't be there during this time, our love and prayers are with you. We will cherish the fond memories we have of Uncle Skip from our childhood.Debbie, Barbie and myself will always remember picking out all of our black jelly beans from our Easter baskets on Easter morning so we could give them to Uncle Skip when we would see him on Easter Sunday at Grandma & Grandpa Mottaz's. As the years went on and we grew older and met people along the way, Debbie , Barbie and myself can remember how proud we always felt when someone would ask us if we were related to Dr. Cliff Mottaz. Not only was he a wonderful Uncle but always know that for us, it was an honor to be his nieces. A stated in this guest book by Auntie Joannie, we too find peace and comfort in knowing that Uncle Skip is with Grandma & Grandpa Mottaz.

Dr. Mottaz was a wonderful professor and an even more admirable man. Over the past 8 years I have frequently found myself in situations that remind me of a story he has told. He let his students be a part of his life. After moving out of state, I would visit Mottaz on campus when I came home. He would always make time to get a beer and just tell stories. He never judged and always gave everyone the benefit of the doubt. He spoke with admiration about his family, especially his wife. Everytime I see a classic car I think of him. My prayers are with his family and loved ones.

It is hard to put into words the way I felt about Dr. Mottaz. I used to sit and talk with him in his office and before we knew it an hour had already flown by. He was a wonderful professor and it is hard to realize that no one will ever benefit from his knowledge and expertise again. He could always make you laugh; he connected with the kids in class with stories of his youth, and he took a genuine interest in all of his students. I have nothing but great admiration for Dr. Mottaz, I honestly feel privileged to have known him and my thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.

I was blessed to be one of Professor Mottaz's students back in the late 1970s. I have always considered him my favorite prof, for many reasons. His passion was teaching, not pontificating. May the Lord Jesus Christ comfort you with His unconditional love during this time, Mottaz family.

Dr. Mottaz did not only motivate his students to do well, he believed they could. His stories, awesome sense of humor, and overall caring nature will be immensely missed at UWRF. My prayers go out to his loved ones during this time. Thanks for being there for us Mottaz, we will miss you!

I grew up with skip & his family, we lived one block away & his sister Joanie & I are still best friends. Skip was in & out of the house doing all the "teanager stuff" while growing up. I know how close knit he was with his family & how sorely missed he will be, he was like a big brother to me always there & in the picture. Carol, I am so sorry you have lost your best friend, I can't imagine what it is like. I know Skip was a wonderful man, husband & brother. Ed, Joanie, Kay & Bobbie, there are no words to say how sad I feel for you all. I know a few people who have had him as a teacher & everyone says how kind he was to everyone. God be with you & with Skip. I love you guys,
Lynn Frisbie & family

Dr. Mottaz,
You were not only my professor, but my friend. We shared some of the same health issues and you were always there, understanding what I was going through. I can't believe that you are not going to be at UWRF when I return in the spring. I was looking forward to your class you were going to teach. I was praying for you about your surgery and I hope you hear my prayers now. My deepest condolences to the family of such a wonderful man. I hope the wind is behind your back Mottaz, we will miss you forever!

As a parent of one Dr Mottaz's students, there are not enough words to even begin to decribe what his freindship meant to our daughter Allison. We were never fortune enough to have met Dr Mottaz, but he was apart of our lives for 4 years. Allison talked about him with great admiration. They had so much in common, encluding the fact the they were both from the "eastside".

Dr Mottaz, we so hope there was a bottle of cold german beer waiting for you!
