To the Ruettimann family I cannot put into words the impact Dan had on my life. Dan was the definition of best friend, always there when needed, always willing to listen, and put others before himself. Life without Dan is difficult but I know he and his dad are reunited and are at peace. I loved you like a brother Dan. R.I.P.

In all the time that I knew you we never crossed paths except that you greeted me with a smile and a sincere desire to know how I had been and what was new since last we spoke. One thing I know is that men are born but to be a GOOD man requires an effort quite apart and distinct from what was made by our mothers to bring us into the world.
I know that you were a GOOD man and always made the effort to be the better man.
You were a true and loyal friend.
RIP. I shall miss you.

I wanted to let you know that yesterday we said goodbye to you and it was a beautiful goodbye! We heard many wonderful memories from a lot of people who love you so, and to see how big your twins were and how much they look like you. We all miss you and hope that you are at peace and enjoying your time with your Dad who I know you missed more than words.
RIP Dan you will be dearly missed.

To the Ruettimann family,
How sad to read of another loss for your (our) family. It seems like only "yesterday" I was extending sympathies for Jerry. I wish we could have been closer as family. How nice it would have been to write about a reunion instead of a loss. Please accept my sincerest condolences on Dan's passing. I'm glad to see pictures of Dan ... he looks so much like Jerry and Buzz, as I remember them. Love to you all.

I knew Dan, and to a lesser extent Darcy as well, in highschool at Mounds View, but I met him while we were in the Explorer Scouts together all those years ago. I remember the care he had for others and even then, I thought how extraordinary that was for a teenger. Dan was also a good listener, which I would imagine was a great aid to him in his career choice; I was glad to run into him at a gas station in Arden Hills years later and see him in uniform, because he had been so clear on what he wanted to do with his life, and it was good to see he had made his dream come true. Too little time here and too soon to go, it sounds like you've made your mark in an extraordinary way that has been uniquely yours, Dan. May your gifts in this life bring your family and special friend comfort in your afterglow.

Dan,
I was there when you were sworn into the Sheriff's department. You were so proud. I connected with you again just a few years ago and you talked so proudly of being a father and of your career.
Thank you for your years of service and your friendship.

Remembering our little blond haired boy next door as he was sitting with us eating red popsicles on the front steps as he was taking a break from riding his big wheel down the hill. We love you Dan and was very proud of you. Ken and Peg Nelson

I remember you meeting you in the early 1970's, just a little kid running around making noise and enjoying life as only a child can. And then you were all grown up, getting hired as a Deputy!May God welcome you into Heaven and may He carry your family through your shocking loss. May you Rest In Peace.

It's to bad Dan was taken from us at a young age. But we have to remember that god took him because he needed another angel to watch over us. He will be sadly missed.
