Dave was so energetic and upbeat in life. We will especially miss that MOST MISCHIEVOUS smile of his as well as all his words of encouragement in our relationship.

My partner Dick Beamer and I have been regular ROR customers for many years, although we knew Dave and Lee before ROR was ever formed. Dave was unfailingly warm and friendly, whether in or out of the office, and it's hard to believe we won't see his smiling face or get one of his hugs again. Although we've been gone from the Twin Cities for nearly 5 years, Dave was a valued connection to our former life there. We will miss him greatly.

With a heavy heart I write this. I have never had a closer thinking relationship with anyone. Dave and I could finish each other's sentences. I cared for him very deeply and with difficulty accept that his wit, caring, and all around "nice-guy-ness" is no longer here. However, I can't believe that the wonderful sparkle of those blue eyes has been lost, is not somewhere in the energy strings of the universe. Perhaps he had tasks, responsibilities, that could be better addressed in his current plane -- such as, helping Kris recover (my best to you), defeating W, and maybe even doing SOMEthing for the Raiders (hang in there, Jim).
I certainly loved him, as did Lee, and Chip, Mark, and Christie-Anne, and...and... and so many. I am very saddened by my loss of a great friend, but I am thankful for the joy he brought to my life. And that joy is still with me.

I met David in 1975, when he was a "mad scientist" working for Dr.King at the U.(I was a grad student). My most vivid memories of working with David involved laughter...we had a great time laughing about good and bad times/politics/anything. So much of what I heard at the memorial service reminded me of David..his appetite, his kindness, his stewardship. I remember one day he came into the lab with Calvin Klein jeans on....this was not like Dave, so I immediately inquired about his new aquisition. He told me he was jogging around Lake of the Isles and saw the discarded pair of jeans and he did not want them to go to waste. He took them home, washed them and probably was still wearing them.
What a great guy Dave was; what a great friend; I will always remember his laugh.......my thoughts and best wishes to his families on their loss. We all lost a pretty special man.
