Doris McKay Obituary

McKay, Doris B. August 2, 1924 - Dec 22, 2007 Passed away surrounded by her family, after a brief illness. She will be deeply missed by her children, Anne McKay, Heather McKay and husband Scott Nelson, Maurice "Sonny" McKay and wife Nancy, Roderick McKay and love, Trish Walton, Dawn Santos and husband Daryl. Grandchildren Greg and wife Yeni, Ian and Alexandra Gilquist, Maurice McKay Jr. and wife Namphueng "Poo", and Sean McKay, Gabriella and Luciano Santos. Doris was devoted to her five children, inspiring them to pursue and succeed in every endeavor and diverse interest, infusing in them a love of classical music, fine art, science, philosophical debate and environmentalism. Doris, as the wife of Maurice McKay, was a significant influence in the formative years and success of Group Health, Inc. (HealthPartners). Doris was an accomplished ballerina, fine Artist and Sculptor. Her finest work, a porcelain Eskimo infant doll, has been donated for display at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. She loved fine wines and food, beautiful music and her family. Doris will be remembered as an enlightened renaissance woman. Private family "Celebration of Life" Service Memorials preferred to Minneapolis Institute of Arts, American Diabetes Association or the Sierra Club.
